Icelandic Design

Icelandic Design's founder, Gerdur Krisjansdotter, is a  native of Iceland, who learned to knit and embroider as a child.  Her first venture into the clothing business was in the early 1980's when she began designing traditional Nordic style sweaters with her mother and importing them to her new home in Colorado.  The high quality, hand embroidered Nordic style sweaters found an appreciative market in the States, and Icelandic Design was born.  More than 25 years later, Gerdur is still at the helm of Icelandic Design, insuring the same high quality construction and use of fine materials, just as she learned from her grandmother and mother as a little girl.  Moose Mountain Trading Company has a long history fo representing Icelandic Design's varied collection of sweaters, jackets, outerwear and including accessories handknit in Nepal and Peru.
